Book Event: The Writers Block Book Store Grand Re-Opening

IMG_2026

I have been looking forward to this day for a long time. I found out last year that they were relocating the book shop and I couldn’t wait for this day to come. Today was the grand reopening of the Writers Block Book Store here in Las Vegas, Nevada. What an amazingly beautiful day it was for this special day. I have so much to share with you all about this lovely book shop and trust me they did not let us book lovers down.

IMG_2035

The Writers Block was located at a different spot downtown and was a lot smaller of a book shop last year. With the new and approved location that is still downtown, they added more features and also kept some old features. One thing that they added was a coffee shop with some amazing goodies which is a lovely addition to any book shop. Not only is the shop a book shop but it is also a Bird Sanctuary which makes this book shop very unique.

They really did a wonderful job bringing this book shop alive. When you walk in you will notice right away a big bird cage with a gift shop/ register where you check out when you purchased your books with the coffee/ tea being served with some delicious snacks available for your taste.

With the new location, the best part is that the book shop is way bigger than the old location they had. Bigger space means more books. I was extremely excited to see how this place came together. Extremely beautiful from the outside to the inside of the shop. I loved how detailed everything was from top to bottom and the fact that you can tell that they truly put their hearts into this book shop. Everyone was extremely nice and made you feel welcomed.

With it being a full house for the grand reopening of the shop I did my best to get as many photos as I can with being 7 months pregnant with a big belly and of course I did run into people Because I was so amazed at how everything turned out. Here are the lovely shots I captured of this amazing grand opening of this one of a kind book shop.

I absolutely love how they did the children’s section, very gorgeous!

They had a section for every book lover out there. I was blown away and very satisfied as a book lover. Fingers crossed for some of my favorite book authors to possibly do a book signing here also and hope for a YA book club too! One more thing, I didn’t leave this book shop empty handed my boyfriend purchased the book I been wanting for some time…

If any of you book lovers are in Las Vegas and want to stop at a unique lovely book shop I highly recommend this book shop, you won’t be disappointed.

Top Ten Tuesday: Things I’ve Done For The Love Of Books

TTT-NEW

Hosted By That Artsy Reader Girl

I have not had the opportunity to do something crazy for the love of books however what I have done are just minor things. Perhaps in the future like if Marissa Meyer was visiting my city I would do just anything to go meet her and sign my books even if that means going at the last minute in my pajamas. Here are just a few things I have done for the love of all books.

VIVICA A. FOX BOOK SIGNING AT BARNES AND NOBLE

I love Autobiography books second favorite genre in books I also love Kill Bill the movie so once I found out that Vivica was going to be doing a book signing for her new book I was all in. Not only was her book inspiring I knew I had to go but one thing the signing was all the way on the other side of the city ( No big deal really) just means to get up early to make sure I’m ready to go also I don’t have my drivers license..yet! So that means my Aunt Nicky was going to take me since my boyfriend is not all about books and this is a must thing to do! To make the story short I was stressed out, leaving the house to forget the book to have to turn around to get it. traffic was insane. My aunt who is not from Las Vegas who moved from Michigan to live out here got us lost and didn’t listen to my instructions to get to the book store. Let’s just say once I got there I was just not in the best mood but I made it and it was worth all the stress.

STOLE A BOOK

You read that right but don’t freak out just yet and let me explain my story! Let me take you back to the 90’s when I was just six years old. This was my first time and very last time I have ever stolen anything in my life (Unless it was the last donut in the house) My mother and I went to a store to do some shopping. I was wondering around close to my mom while she was looking at some clothes but I found this little book called “The Art Of The Lion King” I hid the book from my mom and when we left the store and got in the car I was in the back seat looking at the book. My mother looked back and question me and I never heard the end of it where she went right back to the store and made me walk up to the store employee to return the book and apologize for stealing. Never again! I was so embarrassed. Many years later when I was in Michigan I was in a book thrift store and I found the same book which of course this time around I bought the book and still have it today to remind me of this lesson.

IMG_0813

I have other things I do for the love of books which is missing out on my favorite show to read or sometimes eat dinner later at night so I can continue to read, read in the bathtub or take my book everywhere with me and when I was working for customer service I was reading my book the whole time while I was supposed to be assisting people on the phone and I was half listening (That’s if the book is really really good! That’s how I got thru Six Of Crows and Children Of Blood And Bone so fast I didn’t care to lose my job) Maybe some of the things are minor however I love books more than anything and would do just about anything to read or get my hands on the book or meet an author of the book.

I’m actually really curious, have any of you book lovers done anything crazy for the love of books?

I Should Have Read That Book Tag

book

Found this awesome Book Tag on Read With Abi

I have not done a Book Tag this whole year and been waiting for the right time to do so. I’m not going to waste any more time and just get right to it.

A BOOK THAT A FRIEND IS ALWAYS TELLING YOU TO READ

Unfortunately, I don’t have one single friend that reads. I’m that friend that recommends books but they never listen to me and rather play video games.

A BOOK THAT’S BEEN ON YOUR TBR FOREVER, YET YOU STILL HAVENT PICKED IT UP

51eaZ1mO9ML._SX321_BO1,204,203,200_

That would be this lovely gem! I really want to read Circe! It’s been on my TBR list for a very long time, I’ll get to it soon…very soon!

A BOOK IN A SERIES YOU STARTED BUT HAVENT GOTTEN ROUND TO FINISHING YET

fgfgg

That would be Warriors by Erin Hunter. I grew up reading these and unfortunately, I never finished the whole series plus I have to recollect the series on top of that too. I absolutely love these books to this very day and with all these other books coming out I tend to get distracted but I am determined to finish the series.

A CLASSIC YOU’VE ALWAYS LIKED THE SOUND OF, BUT NEVER ACTUALLY READ

To Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee, a classic that seems everyone has read but me.

A POPULAR BOOK IT SEEMS EVERYONE BUT YOU HAS READ

9780008179984

Nevernight By Jay Kristoff! I see this book everywhere! It’s always on Bookstagram and book reviews on book blogs. Looks interesting and I might get my hands on this to add it to my TBR list.

A BOOK THAT INSPIRED A FILM/TV ADAPTION THAT YOU LOVE BUT JUST HAVEN’T READ YET

Harry Potter! That’s right I have never read Harry Potter but I love the movies. The thing is I am someone who has to read the book first then watch the movie. When the first movie came out my mother had taken me to see the movie and from there on I just watch the movies rather than read the books. I can’t really read the book if I already know what is going to happen or have some knowledge of the story, I like to be surprised and not knowing what’s going to happen because if a new book that I been wanting comes out then I’m going to end up putting the book down and never finished it…you know. So since I missed out on Harry Potter I made sure to read books first then movies!

A BOOK YOU SEE ALL OVER INSTAGRAM  BOOKSTAGRAM BUT HAVENT PICKED UP

91AR3OPVaCL.jpg

Oh yeah, I see this book all over the place right now, it looks and sounds like my type of book. I almost purchased the book today at Target but decided to wait a bit longer.

Happy Reading all! Doing this Book Blog makes me want to read more and more. I feel like I am missing out on some good books here. Let me know what you all think and everyone who reads this is tagged.

Happy Reading!

TTT: My Most Recent Adds To My TBR

TTT-NEW

Hosted By That Artsy Reader Girl

Truth is I haven’t been going on my big book shopping hauls since I found out I was pregnant. So my TBR list is still the same with no add-ons to the list. With that being said I thought I could share with you all how I choose my next TBR book to read and what’s currently in my TBR list still since I haven’t added any new books to my bookshelf.

img_0343

TBR Jar

This is my TBR jar for books that I still need to read. What I do is I get a piece of paper and write down the title and the authors name on the paper and fold it up and add it to the jar. I recently started doing this for this year, Instead of staring at my shelf and trying to decide what to read next I just select a piece of paper at random. It’s a new fun way for me to pick my next book to read. I currently have 52 books on my TBR list and hoping to finish one book a week. I would like to select a new book every Thursday (That’s if I stick to my reading schedule)

Since I have 52 books on my TBR list I will share the top 5 books I’m really looking forward and finally finishing this year.

Blogoween Day 6: Halloween Book’s On My Book Haul List

1ddb742bdc793a93e40590a37526f988

Happy Saturday bookworms. Today is a gloomy day here in Vegas and I can’t get enough of it. Perfect reading and cleaning weather. I have a confession to make! I absolutely love to read but in the past three days, I been addicted to playing Call Of Duty WW2 Hordpoint, Which is zombies running after you and you always have to focus killing the other teammates while holding a certain spot down to earn points. I swore to myself to get back on track tonight and read my current read to have it finished in three days.

Every month I go on a big book haul on the 25th or around that time. This month I will be going on the 24th which is our Book Club meeting at our local Barnes And Noble and that’s when I’ll do my major book shopping. I thought I would share with you guys my Halloweenish books on my list for this month.

the-monkey-s-paw-23

The Monkey’s Paw By W. W. Jacobs

I remember reading this when I was a kid in school and I loved it! I barely remember what happens or the full details but what I do know is that whoever holds the monkey paw you have three wishes…that come with major consequences.

The Witch’s Daughter By Paula Brackston

9781250118394

The Return Of The Witch By Paula Brackston

miss-peregrine-series.jpeg

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children Series By Ransom Riggs

I think I’m going to leave it at that for this month. I’m not really into scary stories however if it has a great, twisted story, something I was not expecting towards the end then I’m all in for it. If you heard of any of these books let me know. TTFN.
