SPOILER-FREE!

This story was absolutely touching and definitely reached a place in my heart. Carynn wrote the story with detail and was beautifully written. I look forward to reading future stories from this author.

The cover of the book is so beautiful! The cover immediately caught my eye. I’m a sucker for beautiful covers, I mean who isn’t, right!

You immediately get into the story with Malcolm Gibbs, the main character of the story is a sixteen-year-old boy who truly goes threw a life change in just a few months. His parents had just divorced and he and his younger sister Annie who can be your typical little sibling brat move to Kentucky with their mother to live with their grandmother.

The author truly put detail into the story where you feel the Kentucky warmth and country like in the story. I’m a city girl so reading the world set in this story made me feel like I was truly there with the characters.

Malcolm is adjusting his new life in the country while his younger sister Annie seems to have adjusted their new life very well. One day they received devastating news about Malcolms older sibling Jackson. Malcolm seems to be very close to his older brother who is a soldier serving the country. When the news of his brother passing Malcolm goes to a rather silent, dark mood where not only his parents divorced and having to move to a new environment and now his brother passing, he has a lot going on for a sixteen-year-old.

While Malcolm is trying to cope with his new surroundings and the news of his older brother passing his grandmother has neighbors who have a beautiful stallion which his younger sister Annie is obsessed with and wants to investigate the horse by going up to the fence petting the horse. The siblings meet the neighbor’s daughter who is the same age as Malcolm name Bella.

Bella shares with the siblings that her stallion name is Blue. Annie is fascinated with the horse. Malcolm and Bella become very close and have a special bond between the two over time. While everything seems to go good in Malcolm’s life something tragic hits his sister Annie. While it sets him off once again heading back into the darkness that seems like he can’t find the light in his life.

Malcolm pushes the people closes to him and struggles to find the light once more the author writes this story so beautifully to keep you interested and wanting more to know what will happen to young Malcolm and the ones he loves.

I truly loved the story and the characters. Beautifully written and the amazing character growth with Malcolm that I couldn’t put the story down and needed to know what would happen to him.

Ready to go to Kentucky with Malcolm?
