Top Ten Tuesday: Things I’ve Done For The Love Of Books

TTT-NEW

Hosted By That Artsy Reader Girl

I have not had the opportunity to do something crazy for the love of books however what I have done are just minor things. Perhaps in the future like if Marissa Meyer was visiting my city I would do just anything to go meet her and sign my books even if that means going at the last minute in my pajamas. Here are just a few things I have done for the love of all books.

VIVICA A. FOX BOOK SIGNING AT BARNES AND NOBLE

I love Autobiography books second favorite genre in books I also love Kill Bill the movie so once I found out that Vivica was going to be doing a book signing for her new book I was all in. Not only was her book inspiring I knew I had to go but one thing the signing was all the way on the other side of the city ( No big deal really) just means to get up early to make sure I’m ready to go also I don’t have my drivers license..yet! So that means my Aunt Nicky was going to take me since my boyfriend is not all about books and this is a must thing to do! To make the story short I was stressed out, leaving the house to forget the book to have to turn around to get it. traffic was insane. My aunt who is not from Las Vegas who moved from Michigan to live out here got us lost and didn’t listen to my instructions to get to the book store. Let’s just say once I got there I was just not in the best mood but I made it and it was worth all the stress.

STOLE A BOOK

You read that right but don’t freak out just yet and let me explain my story! Let me take you back to the 90’s when I was just six years old. This was my first time and very last time I have ever stolen anything in my life (Unless it was the last donut in the house) My mother and I went to a store to do some shopping. I was wondering around close to my mom while she was looking at some clothes but I found this little book called “The Art Of The Lion King” I hid the book from my mom and when we left the store and got in the car I was in the back seat looking at the book. My mother looked back and question me and I never heard the end of it where she went right back to the store and made me walk up to the store employee to return the book and apologize for stealing. Never again! I was so embarrassed. Many years later when I was in Michigan I was in a book thrift store and I found the same book which of course this time around I bought the book and still have it today to remind me of this lesson.

I have other things I do for the love of books which is missing out on my favorite show to read or sometimes eat dinner later at night so I can continue to read, read in the bathtub or take my book everywhere with me and when I was working for customer service I was reading my book the whole time while I was supposed to be assisting people on the phone and I was half listening (That’s if the book is really really good! That’s how I got thru Six Of Crows and Children Of Blood And Bone so fast I didn’t care to lose my job) Maybe some of the things are minor however I love books more than anything and would do just about anything to read or get my hands on the book or meet an author of the book.

I’m actually really curious, have any of you book lovers done anything crazy for the love of books?

The Big Scoop

IMG_1917

The big scoop? I am the big scoop! I need a big scoop of Cookies And Cream Ice Cream, I also look like a scoop of Ice cream. I’m officially 7 months pregnant this week and I’m losing the days. Time is going by fast and I feel like I need to read all my TBR books on my shelves before my daughter arrives while I also have cravings to go on a book haul at Barnes And Noble to add to that TBR list.

Right now my 2019 Reading Challenge on Good Reads is 100 books for this year and I only have one book completed. I know I am so behind right now but I’m hoping with a new baby on the way (First child) I can still complete the challenge!? Only one can hope.

Right now Las Vegas weather is amazing where I am back on my porch reading again. I organized my bookshelves just a bit, nothing too much new with them besides throwing away the Owlcrate and Fairyloot boxes that were taking up all the space I had left on the shelves. Well, I did keep one box each to keep all the treasures that come within the boxes (The Art Cards) I have yet to decide how to display the cards.

I came over my fear of reading in my bathtub! I used to hear people doing it all the time but I have such a fear dropping my book in the water and trust me it would be the end of the day and people around me are going to hear it for a lifetime if that was to happen. Bath time became an everyday thing more than showers now that I’m pregnant it helps with the back pains and it’s really relaxing so I gave it a go and now It’s my favorite thing I look forward to every day.

Since I haven’t been going on my usual big book hauls for myself and been focusing everything on the baby girl I have plans to do a big children’s book haul for her in May (One month before she is here) and plans to paint a shabby chic style wall bookshelves for her room. I’ll keep you all posted with that plan.

I started my new Bookstagram account. I really missed taking photos and being creative with my books. I miss the book community and seeing everyone’s creative photos with their books. If you have a Bookstagram account give me a follow and comment or DM to let me know you got my account info from my blog, I’ll follow back!

Well, I’m gonna get back to my current read right now and hope to finish it by the end of this week!

TTT: Books I Meant To Read In 2018 But Didn’t Get To

TTT-NEW

Hosted By That Artsy Reader

It’s been a while since I last did a Top Ten Tuesday, and I really miss doing this. Very excited to get back into it and look forward to looking at everyone else’s Top Ten Tuesday post.

Last year was amazing for me. I moved into a beautiful apartment that is down the street from my mother’s house and love that there is a movie theatre across the street from me. I also was working a pretty good job but the hours were horrible for me where it was hard to find time to read after work without getting so tired and of course I found out that I am expecting my first child.

With getting sidetracked there were some amazing books that I didn’t get the opportunity to read last year so here is my list of books from 2018 I meant to read but didn’t get to.

Small Fry By Lisa Brennan – Jobs

I really can’t believe I haven’t read this yet! I got this right when it came out and have yet to read this. This is definitely on my top TBR list and my next read after I finish my current read.

Being 16 Weeks Pregnant Update

picmonkey collage

Hello, Welcome! Today is my 16-weeks pregnant update. A few things to mention with you all, I am pregnant with my first child with my boyfriend of 10 years. We are expecting a baby girl who will be here on June 22 this summer. I’m over here taking notes and reading tons of information as I have no idea what to expect. One thing I do know is that I’m going to be a mother and there is nothing I can express truly how excited I am to have a mini-me taking over the household.

Every Saturday when I wake up in the morning the first thing I do is walk over to my bookshelf and grab my book called Your Pregnancy Week By Week. Every Saturday is adding another week to my pregnancy, therefore, I sit down with a glass of milk and start reading the new week that I am and what to expect.

Trust me, if you are a new mother to be this book is everything. I was originally Googling everything I felt and experience and doing that just scared me, the things I was reading was a little crazy and making me nervous for no reason when there is nothing wrong in the first place.

untitled

With that being said I feel a lot better once I hit the second trimester. I have tons more energy now and enjoy waking up early in the morning and going to bed early at night. I was never the one to get up early in the morning but ever since I am pregnant I have this wonderful sleep schedule right now (Been told not to get used to it, once the baby is here that will be all messed up)

Few things I noticed have changed and one of them is my baby bump. Of course, it’s getting bigger but I mean I’m having a bit of a hard time when I put some pants on or pick something up from the floor the belly is starting to get in the way meaning that the belly is no more squishy like feeling and more solid and I feel something like the baby is sitting on my bladder maybe? I don’t know but it’s a new feeling that I’m experiencing this week.

Another thing that is new this week is I’m starting to break out on my jawline and under my chin. I have a routine where I wash my face morning and night but from my reading, this is totally normal for pregnant women to experience, just a bummer!

Food Cravings for this week!

  • Cinnabon
  • Kettle popcorn
  • Mashed Potatoes

That’s a wrap! Thank you all! Catch my pregnancy update post every Wednesday!

Blogoween Day 7: They Got My Back

Gi-Zombie-Comic-Wallpapers-8

Blogoween Hosted Today By Kaleena @ Reader Voracious

I have a question here before we start today’s Blogoween. Who here actually reads The Walking Dead comics? I live right across the street from Celestial Comics and they have a pretty big selection of Walking Dead series. I was tempted to get them but the truth is I really don’t like zombies. Nasty creatures whoever thought of them, however, I have watched all the seasons so far besides the newest one that was just added to Netflix. I must say the ONLY reason I’m watching the show is that they have a character that has a TIGER! Now folks, If you been with me since the beginning of my postings then you would know that before I started reading actual stories I was a nerd reading Encyclopedia’s, mainly cat Encyclopedias. So whoever created the character Ezekiel and his Tiger for the zombie apocalypse is a genius! Which leads me to tell you if a zombie apocalypse breaks out the main one that is going to have my back…

Ezekiel And Shiva From The Walking Dead

I’m going to count these two as one. Ezekiel knows what he is doing in the Zombie Apocalypse! I would have no fear into this world knowing that these two have my back.

Raven From Heartless By Marissa Meyer

Raven is very important to the team. Flying the skies so high to see what’s up ahead and guide the team the proper path to avoid zombies or at least a huge herd of them.

Inej Ghafa AKA The Wraith From Six Of Crows/ Crooked Kingdom By Leigh Bardugo

Inej is not only good with her balance and ability to take on high-level buildings but she is a master with her knives which leaves her skills to take on zombies.

Daenerys Targaryen AKA Mother Of Dragons From A Game Of Thrones By George R. R. Martin

We need fire and lots of it when it comes to herds of zombies. The Mother Of Dragons does not deal with White Walkers to well since they are a bit more advanced attacking but human zombies are a piece of cake for her and her dragons.

Legolas From Lord Of The Rings By J. R. R. Tolkien

Skilled with archery, knowledge with creepy/ crazy creatures running around wanting to kill you, and very handsome…anyways Legolas is the cherry on top. When the world is going down you are gonna need him on your side and help guide the way of survival with his experience.

That’s my top five characters that have my back during a Zombie Apocolypse. Trust me when all hell breaks loose you need someone or something in the air to guide your path, you will also need a big cat! Nothing wrong with having a big cat on your side with a dragon that has a lot of fire to give out and kill tons of zombies at once, and a handsome knowledge elf too with an assassin that knows her stuff about knives. I think that pretty much covers everything and who I need to survive.

What do you guys think? Let me know. TTFN.
