TTT-NEW

Hosted By That Artsy Reader Girl

Book quotes are everything to me especially when it hits me good. The weird thing is I never share those quotes on my book blog, it’s a rare occasion if I do. I like to keep them to myself and write them personally into my diary to remember those words. However, for today, I will like to share some of those book quotes that just hit me good you know!

“Hope! Is The Thing With Feathers.”The Sun Is Also A Star

“We Are All someone’s monster.” – Six Of Crows

“Everyone always underestimates the idiot.”  – Heartless

“If I cannot be better than them, I will become so much worse.” The Cruel Prince

“f you want something, you should let yourself have it.” – Ace Of Shades

“A plane flew across the sky and for a second, she imagined the rows of people tucked neatly inside, watching movies and sipping sodas. No idea they were flying over a boy training crows.” – Crow Flight

Happy Reading All!

The Currently Reading Book Tag

Untitled.jpg

Found this lovely Book Tag on Reader Voracious Book Blog!

Another day another glory! Today is just a wonderful day to write, it’s been raining all day with thunder and lightning! All this rain has put me into a writing mood so here is a Book Tag that’s been overdue on my book blog. Enjoy!

HOW MANY BOOKS DO YOU USUALLY READ AT ONCE?

Two! Always two. I have my physical copy on hand which I call my current read and on my Nook I have my Netgalley story that I either been approved of to read or volunteer to read.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHEN TO SWITCH BETWEEN MULTIPLE READS?

I kinda just go with the flow and how I feel. I tend to have a habit of focusing on the story that has the least pages to finish first rather then the book with the most pages however if a book is really good and most talked about than I tend to favor one read the most thru out the day and my second read later on in the evening with least amount of time reading. It really just all depends on how I manage to switch between my reads depending more on the story.

DO YOU EVER SWITCH BOOKMARKS PARTWAY THROUGH A BOOK?

No, Never! When it comes to my next read I always select a bookmark that I think would go with the story. (I have a small bookmark collection)

WHERE DO YOU KEEP THE BOOK(S) YOU’RE CURRENTLY READING?

Right on my desk, however, there are times where I have fallen asleep with my book in my hands but for the most part, I always keep my physical copy on my desk right next to my Nook and diary and journal!

WHAT TIME OF DAY DO YOU READ THE MOST?

Since I am pregnant I have all the time in the world to read. Right now when I wake up I read for 20 minutes then go eat. I read in the late afternoon then nap time. I read in the evening for bath time and then later at night before bedtime. So basically it’s reading all day for me unless its one of those days were I need “Fresh Time” to do other hobbies and catch up with other stuff I enjoy.

HOW LONG DO YOU TYPICALLY READ IN ONE SESSION?

Always 1 hour to 3 hours.

DO YOU READ HARDBACKS WITH THE DUST JACKET OFF?

Yes! All the time. And if you’re wondering why…I just do, I don’t really have a reason why I take it off.

WHAT POSITION DO YOU MAINLY USE TO READ?

Depends where I am located. I have three spots in my house where I read so first would be my bed so that means I am on my left side with every single pillow in the house next to me. The second location is the couch, I have movie theater couches so, therefore, I have my feet kicked up and laying back with one pillow behind me. My third reading spot is on the porch so I am just relaxing on my porch chair enjoying the weather when I am out there.

DO YOU TAKE YOUR CURRENT READ WITH YOU EVERYWHERE YOU GO?

What a silly question! Of course, I do! I take the physical copy more than my Nook.  I never know when or what is going to happen when I’m out in about especially now that I’m going to doctor visits and they have me wait for seriously forever I have to have a book with me no matter what when I leave my house. I’m always prepared.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU UPDATE YOUR GOODREADS READING PROGRESS?

Every night before bed. I always try to make it my goal to update my progress and pretty good at making sure I keep up with it.

Thanks for catching up with me on this fun Book Tag! I tag every Book Blogger out there who is interested in participating in this Tag.

SPOILER FREE!

Young love…Who would have thought that I would actually fall in love with this story? I’m not really into romance stories it would have to really get me and I thought this story was pretty cute from the beginning to the very end.

This book has been in my TBR jar and I selected the title surprised to find out that the movie comes out next month so It was meant to be. I knew it was going to be a romance story and I had my fingers crossed it was going to be worth the read and sure enough it was. It’s different, unique, and beautiful…a love story I have not read before so it has originality for me to keep reading.

Our story starts out in New York City. We get to meet Natasha, a young girl who is originally born in Jamaica along with her younger brother and parents. Natasha and her family are being deported back to Jamaica, Natasha is doing everything she can for her and her family to be able to stay in America. Natasha is all about facts and what’s in front of her type of person.

We also get to meet Daniel, who is a Korean – American whose family is from South Korea. Daniels family have high expectations for him to be a doctor and has a very important interview to get into Yale. Daniel is all about fate and destiny and true love.

I definitely feel like the love tension between the two went really fast but in a really good way. We have two completely different people and one who truly believes in fate and tries to show the other to follow your heart and what it says.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers

You know its a good book when you really can’t put the book down and you want to know what’s going to happen and I mean I had to know what the fate was between these two young couples and where they were going to end up. So many questions running thru my head… Are they going to end up being together? Are they getting married on the same day they meet? Do Natasha and her family have to go back to Jamaica? The ending gave me goosebumps! I love endings of stories, it’s everything for me and it ended perfectly for me.

Get your popcorn and candies! The movie comes out next month and I’m very stoked to have a “Me-Time” to watch this!

Turtles All The Way Down Book Review

Title: Turtles All The Way Down

Series: Stand Alone

Author: John Green

Publisher: Dutton Books

Pages: 286

Rating: simple-black-heart-silhouette_318-10296simple-black-heart-silhouette_318-10296simple-black-heart-silhouette_318-10296simple-black-heart-silhouette_318-10296simple-black-heart-silhouette_318-10296

SPOILER FREE!

This is my second book I ever read from John Green and I love everything about it. There is just something about John Green’s writing that just keeps me going and going and not wanting to stop.

This story is exactly what I needed this weekend. Mix of mystery, romance, and a little bit of humor. The story was smoothly put together into place nicely where I have a full understanding of what’s going on and enough action going on where it kept me reading.

We have a story where a 16-year-old Aza who is the main character and her best friend Daisy are investigating a fugitive who is a billionaire who is missing and there is a hundred thousand dollar reward leading to the fugitive named Russel Pickett. Aza used to hang out with the fugitive’s son name Davis when they were kids. Aza and Davis reconnect with each other and build a relationship. Thru the whole book, we are in Aza’s point of view on things and what she is dealing with.

Aza has severe Anxiety issue when it comes to health. John Green did a wonderful job writing about Aza and how she feels and what she is thinking. I truly enjoyed reading about her and how she deals with her life and everyone around her. Her relationship with her mother and her best friend and Davis is wonderful to read seeing the character growth thru out the book with them.

I would like to share that I absolutely love Daisy, Aza’a best friend! If Daisy was in the real world her and I would have been good friends. I love that she is a Star Wars fanatic and who she is as a person makes me smile and laugh where you need a Daisy in your life. The character growth between her and Aza was amazing to me, they are two different people who are best friends which reminds me of my best friend that I grew up with.

I was so curious to what happened to the missing fugitive and also wondering what the relationship with the characters would end up towards the end of the book. I am very pleased with this book and highly recommend it!

Book Event: The Writers Block Book Store Grand Re-Opening

IMG_2026

I have been looking forward to this day for a long time. I found out last year that they were relocating the book shop and I couldn’t wait for this day to come. Today was the grand reopening of the Writers Block Book Store here in Las Vegas, Nevada. What an amazingly beautiful day it was for this special day. I have so much to share with you all about this lovely book shop and trust me they did not let us book lovers down.

IMG_2035

The Writers Block was located at a different spot downtown and was a lot smaller of a book shop last year. With the new and approved location that is still downtown, they added more features and also kept some old features. One thing that they added was a coffee shop with some amazing goodies which is a lovely addition to any book shop. Not only is the shop a book shop but it is also a Bird Sanctuary which makes this book shop very unique.

IMG_2027

They really did a wonderful job bringing this book shop alive. When you walk in you will notice right away a big bird cage with a gift shop/ register where you check out when you purchased your books with the coffee/ tea being served with some delicious snacks available for your taste.

IMG_2030.JPG

With the new location, the best part is that the book shop is way bigger than the old location they had. Bigger space means more books. I was extremely excited to see how this place came together. Extremely beautiful from the outside to the inside of the shop. I loved how detailed everything was from top to bottom and the fact that you can tell that they truly put their hearts into this book shop. Everyone was extremely nice and made you feel welcomed.

With it being a full house for the grand reopening of the shop I did my best to get as many photos as I can with being 7 months pregnant with a big belly and of course I did run into people Because I was so amazed at how everything turned out. Here are the lovely shots I captured of this amazing grand opening of this one of a kind book shop.

They had a section for every book lover out there. I was blown away and very satisfied as a book lover. Fingers crossed for some of my favorite book authors to possibly do a book signing here also and hope for a YA book club too! One more thing, I didn’t leave this book shop empty handed my boyfriend purchased the book I been wanting for some time…

If any of you book lovers are in Las Vegas and want to stop at a unique lovely book shop I highly recommend this book shop, you won’t be disappointed.

The Wicked King Book Review

Title: The Wicked King

Series: The Folk Of The Air #2

The Wicked King, Second book to The Cruel Prince! If you didn’t get a chance to read my book review for The Cruel Prince click HERE

SPOILER FREE!

The Wicked King was my top three anticipating books of 2019. Let me just say I believe Holly Black knows what she is doing with this story and she has not let me down and more than likely she won’t when she ends this story.

When I started to read the first pages I was having a hard time getting into the story and where we are now in the story. I was getting a little confused with so many characters. The beginning of the book was okay but everything started to pick up for me towards the very end of the story, which is kinda a bummer for me since the first book hooked me the moment I started to read.

Once the action started to flow in I was hooked and couldn’t put the book down. I have a lot of feelings for some characters in this book and what are they planning and motives. I was surprised to see some characters backstab Jude and confused in a good way as to why they are doing it to where I need answers.

The ending was everything, just like the first book! It didn’t fail me! I love the ending more than anything and it was the best part of the book. I had to flip back pages to read it again, it was that good!

The writing, of course, is wonderful and very detailed for me to feel like I was apart of the world that Holly Black has created. The first book was definitely my favorite so far but the second one is not bad at all. I am looking forward to the final book “Queen Of Nothing” to see what happens with Jude and the other characters in the story and unfortunately, I have to wait another whole year just to find out.

Ready to walk with Jude to the Fey world?

Top Ten Tuesday: Things I’ve Done For The Love Of Books

TTT-NEW

Hosted By That Artsy Reader Girl

I have not had the opportunity to do something crazy for the love of books however what I have done are just minor things. Perhaps in the future like if Marissa Meyer was visiting my city I would do just anything to go meet her and sign my books even if that means going at the last minute in my pajamas. Here are just a few things I have done for the love of all books.

VIVICA A. FOX BOOK SIGNING AT BARNES AND NOBLE

I love Autobiography books second favorite genre in books I also love Kill Bill the movie so once I found out that Vivica was going to be doing a book signing for her new book I was all in. Not only was her book inspiring I knew I had to go but one thing the signing was all the way on the other side of the city ( No big deal really) just means to get up early to make sure I’m ready to go also I don’t have my drivers license..yet! So that means my Aunt Nicky was going to take me since my boyfriend is not all about books and this is a must thing to do! To make the story short I was stressed out, leaving the house to forget the book to have to turn around to get it. traffic was insane. My aunt who is not from Las Vegas who moved from Michigan to live out here got us lost and didn’t listen to my instructions to get to the book store. Let’s just say once I got there I was just not in the best mood but I made it and it was worth all the stress.

STOLE A BOOK

You read that right but don’t freak out just yet and let me explain my story! Let me take you back to the 90’s when I was just six years old. This was my first time and very last time I have ever stolen anything in my life (Unless it was the last donut in the house) My mother and I went to a store to do some shopping. I was wondering around close to my mom while she was looking at some clothes but I found this little book called “The Art Of The Lion King” I hid the book from my mom and when we left the store and got in the car I was in the back seat looking at the book. My mother looked back and question me and I never heard the end of it where she went right back to the store and made me walk up to the store employee to return the book and apologize for stealing. Never again! I was so embarrassed. Many years later when I was in Michigan I was in a book thrift store and I found the same book which of course this time around I bought the book and still have it today to remind me of this lesson.

IMG_0813

I have other things I do for the love of books which is missing out on my favorite show to read or sometimes eat dinner later at night so I can continue to read, read in the bathtub or take my book everywhere with me and when I was working for customer service I was reading my book the whole time while I was supposed to be assisting people on the phone and I was half listening (That’s if the book is really really good! That’s how I got thru Six Of Crows and Children Of Blood And Bone so fast I didn’t care to lose my job) Maybe some of the things are minor however I love books more than anything and would do just about anything to read or get my hands on the book or meet an author of the book.

I’m actually really curious, have any of you book lovers done anything crazy for the love of books?
