Book Blog Newbie Tag

Untitled

I guess this should of been my very first Book Tag. But that’s okay better late then never. Before I jump into these lovely questions I found this Book Tag on Much Ado About Literature

Lets Begin..

WHY DID YOU START THIS BLOG?

To keep tract of all my book reviews in one place where I can call home. Seriously, to make new friends that have the same interest as me. Where I’m from people are shock when they learn that I read books and I will never understand why they think I’m not a bookworm. My best friend and boyfriend and everyone else around me do not read so therefore I have no one to discuss books with. I have a home here on my blog where I can express exactly how I feel towards the things I love, which is books and share the same passion with other bookworms.

WHAT ARE SOME FUN AND UNIQUE THINGS YOU CAN BRING TO BOOK BLOGGING?

Honesty, Personality, Just being me. But I’m sure you heard these one to many times. But there is no one out there like me and there’s no one out there like you. One fun thing I would like to do is create my own Book Tags, maybe? I don’t know yet, If I have the time I just might do it because I do have something in mind 😉

WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED FOR ABOUT THIS NEW BLOG?

MEETING WONDERFUL BOOKWORMS AROUND THE WORLD! Considering I might be the only Bookworm living in Las Vegas that doesn’t drink or hang out at the strip and rather stay home and drink some hot tea and read a book. Golly! How old am I?

WHY DO YOU LOVE READING?

To get away from my life! I’m just kidding my life is amazing. We live in a world with no magic and no mystical creatures, no dark twisted crimes or truths (For some of us anyways) I enjoy reading for the fantasy vibes, you know what I’m saying?! Yes to escape this boring mortal world to enter a world that might not really exist but for those hours I’m reading they exist and that means for me for that moment I’m in a whole new world with new characters and new adventures that I get to experience.

WHAT BOOK OR SERIES GOT YOU INTO READING?

I’m glad you asked. Warriors by Erin Hunter. I will always and forever be proud to have read these lovely, amazing books growing up. When I was younger I was obsessed reading different Encyclopedia books and my two favorite books was the Google Encyclopedia and the Cat Encyclopedia.

Holy Cow! Total book geek. Since I loved cats and one time in my life I wanted to be some animal behavior expert that sits around under a tree taking notes and pictures of Tigers, Lions, and Leopards. While I was in that little zone as a kid I found the Warriors series at Barnes And Noble and because there was a cat on the cover I had to have it and YES! My reading has developed into more stories then facts but that’s the beauty of reading, at least for me.

WHAT QUESTIONS WOULD YOU ASK YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS?

I get star struck. I freeze up and my smile is so wide but nothing is coming out of my mouth. I will NEVER get the chance to ask any questions in person, I will be standing there with the book in my hand hoping they will do the talking for me. Jeeze, how embarrassing right! I’m sure I’m not the only one. AKWARD!

WHAT CHALLENGES DO YOU THINK STARTING A BLOG WILL BE THE HARDEST TO OVERCOME?

I don’t know any challenges that I can think of. I have all the time to be blogging so time wont be a challenge. I’m on here to meet new bookworms like myself so engaging with others or keeping up with post wont be a challenge. The only thing I can think of that is kind of a  minor challenge would have to be my spelling and grammar on here. I mean this is a book blog and I read a lot but I’m still not the best in the world when it comes to spelling. I get really excited to post a new blog so I type fast so I can make sure I get everything on my mind down without forgetting anything and I just might skip a word or a letter somewhere and if I do just give me that shout!

WHEN DID YOU START READING?

I really don’t know. But what I do know it was at a very young age that I can read for myself. Something I would have to ask my Ma she knows the exact age!

WHERE DO YOU READ?

Under a cactus…

Seriously…

I have only three spots I read and a cactus is not one of them.  If I have the time in the morning to read its on my couch with my legs kicked up (Movie theater style couches) which is in my living room.

Yes I took this picture when I was writing this post.

Who is that on the couch?

That’s Pops! He’s my crazy pooch who naps thru out the day.

Now my second and most favorite spot to read would be my BED! I’m pretty sure 99% of us bookworms do most of our readings on are cozy beds.

IMG_1445

Did I make the bed before I took this picture? You bet your buns I did!

Last but not least would be my porch. So how it works considering I live in a desert and it gets to be over 100 degrees here in the summer you will NOT see me outside reading a book. Once fall is here like pretty much now I start to sit outside my porch once the sun sets and cools down at night to read for a couple hours out there. Sorry no picture since I am working on my porch to get it ready for full reading this season.

WHAT KIND OF BOOKS DO YOU LIKE TO READ?

I love all books. But at the end of the day it will always be YA. Fantasy, action, and of course a complicated love story with some danger thrown into the story. I need some mystical creature sometimes too and don’t forget a crazy villain too, we always need one of those!

Well folks that is all from this Book Tag today. If you had finished this then you know a little more about me,  I love to hear what you think so drop some comments down below! TTFN.

Netflix Book Tag

This is my first ever Book Tag. I must say that book tags look very fun and a great way for everyone to get to know who’s behind the blog. I will be participating in Book Tags and look forward to all these fun questions! I found this Book Tag on Thriceread.com

So here it goes, my first Book Tag, if I haven’t said it already.

RECENTLY WATCH – THE LAST BOOK YOU FINISHED READING

Just finished The Cruel Prince by Holly Black today. It was on my TBR list for a very long time this year and finally got to it this month, I should of read it a lot sooner. So much darkness and magic all at once.

TOP PICKS – A BOOK RECOMMENDED TO YOU BASED OFF ANOTHER BOOK YOU READ

When I was reading the Wicked series by Gregory Maguire my friend told me about the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I have yet to read the series, but I do own the first book.

RECENTLY ADDED – THE BOOK YOU MOST RECENTLY BOUGHT

I don’t know if this counts but my boyfriend just bought me Leah On The Off Beat By Becky Albertalli.

POPULAR ON NETFLIX – ONE BOOK YOU’VE READ AND ONE BOOK YOU HAVEN’T READ THAT EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT

I read Children Of Blood And Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. Just sitting here waiting for book two to come out!

I have not read Caraval by Stephanie Garber. The book is on my TBR list and has been for awhile now along with the second book Legendary. I hear good things about it but we are all different when it comes to reading and what we like at the end of the day. But for real I really need to get on that hmmm possible next read?

COMEDIES – NAME A FUNNY BOOK

One book that comes to mind that I recently read not to long ago would be Clock Dance by Anne Tyler. One of the characters that is a nine year old name Cheryl and her dog name Airplane just made me laugh thru out the book. She was a character, but usually all kids are.

DRAMAS – NAME A CHARACTER WHO IS A DRAMA KING/QUEEN

Hmmm at the moment I can’t think of any. I’m stumped.

CARTOONS – NAME A BOOK WITH CARTOONS ON THE COVER

The only thing I have that have cartoons on the covers are my Fables comics. I guess you can decide if that counts.

WATCH AGAIN – A BOOK OR SERIES YOU REALLY WANT TO REREAD

The series that I want to reread which is what got me to really get into reading are the Warriors by Erin Hunter. Gosh what a wonderful series to read when I was growing up. I seriously could not put these books down.

DOCUMENTARIES – A NON- FICTION YOU’D RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE

Every day I’m Hustling by Vivica A. Fox. I had the privileged to meet her this year and got my book signed by her. Very inspiring and very little gossip 😉

ACTION/ADVENTURE – NAME AN ACTION PACKED BOOK OR SERIES

Six Of Crows and the second book Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. A lot of action and a lot of kick ass characters.

NEW RELEASES – A NEW RELEASE YOU ARE EXCITED ABOUT

Considering I finished The Cruel Prince today I’m really looking forward to The Wicked King by Holly Black next year to be released, January can not get here any faster!

Let me know what you guys think. I would tag some book bloggers but since I’m new everyone is tagged. TTFN.

Title: The Cruel Prince

SPOILER FREE!

Well, I’m ruined for the rest of the day. Just finished this amazing gem and I’m completely hungover from it. I really don’t know what to do with myself and I need more of this story.

This was my first Holly Black story I read from her and it is truly a wonderful, dark, magical story. UGHHH I seriously can not wait for the second book The Wicked King! I could not put this book down. I kept going and the ending was a shock for me.

The main character Jude who is mortal living in the Fey world along with her twin sister Taryn deal with a lot of bullying from others that are not mortal. Jude wants to be nothing but a respected knight in the monarch court. Her dark journey finding the truth about the ones she loves and the ones that are among her are truly fascinating and makes you want more.

Holly Black did a wonderful job writing this story out where you can literally visualize everything in your head like a movie. I’m always focused when I’m reading but there are a lot of characters in this book where you do need to focus because I did have to flip back pages to be like “Wait! Who?”

Mystical creatures, betrayal, a dark world where mortals are looked down at. A royal family fighting for the crown and one big secret…Yes, this book brought all of this. The epic journey of finding the truth and the main character Jude finding out who she truly is when she was that person from the beginning.

Also, I would like to say that Jude’s birthday is the same day as mine 🙂

Are you in for this epic read because I was stuck in the book the moment I started the first page and wanted to know more of Jude and her life with others that bully her and how she copes in this world with faeries.

This book was on my TBR list for a long time and I wish I read this a lot sooner then I did. I’m thrilled I finally got the opportunity to read this and is now one of my top favorite reads of 2018.

Ready to leave the mortal world and enter the epic world of Fey?

Second Book The Wicked King Book Review

Hardcovers, Paperbacks, or Nooks?

IMG_1438

Hey bookworms. As of right now I am enjoying myself on my porch while the sun sets and its a bit cooler here at the desert. Usually I am sipping on some hot tea right now but todays drink of choice is Cactus Cooler. Due to this lovely evening I would like to discuss about the choices of how you bookworms like to read and how I like to read.

My daily routine is usually the same I  wake up, take the dog for a walk, clean myself up and sew then once it gets late I start to make some hot tea and relax and get ready to read, but what is in my hands when I’m reading? Good question!

When I go to my local Barnes And Noble store or even when I am ordering a book online I am always looking for the hardcovers. Why? I don’t really like holding the hardcovers when I read considering I try to read two to three hours a night and my wrist tend to get tired from holding the book. But what I do like is how it looks on my book shelfs and just holding a hardcover book in my hands gives me some sort of comfort especially when I finish the book.

For the paperbacks it’s my last resort. The only time I get a paperback book is when I cant get my hands on the hardcover and I really want the book. I am a compulsive buyer and when it comes to books I must have. I’m sure most of you can relate. It is easier to read a paperback book without your hands getting tired.

Last but not least are the Nooks. I recently just got a Nook. I wanted to give it a try and see if it would actually work for me. Well it doesn’t work for me. I’m so caught up getting hardcover books that I’m not worried about getting the book onto the Nook. Don’t get me wrong the Nook is pretty cool to have but I have no use for it. I did download Sleepy Hollow audio (My very first audio) and I didn’t enjoy it so much. I like the feeling of having the book in my hands more then a tablet. We use so much technology everyday. I have my cell phone I’m using and my laptop, and a ps4 that its nice to lay down and get away from looking at a screen to actually looking at pages to read.

So I’m curious bookworms, how do you like to read your books?
